So...Humphrey's Concerts by the Bay is starting up for the season next week. Some of the acts are more my grandma's speed, but -eh... some are quite worth seeing.

Before you gawk at the ticket price...do what I do: Rent a kayak, (or in my case buy a cheapo raft at Sportsmart) grab some beer, maybe a picnic and do a sunset paddle from Point Loma over to Shelter Island. Its not that bad of a trek and you get to see the whole concert up close. Its got a whole local following, tons of people are on the water every show. We're thinking of getting a group together for the opening show next friday if anyone wants to jump on board.

Thu, May 1, 2008 - 11:31 AMI've done this several times and it's a BLAST! The cool performers actually acknowledge the renegade floatella and play to them which is super fun too. I've always been in a boat where I could sit on something. I rigged up a bucket from Home Depot or a big coffee can and had a blanket to wrap around whomever needed to take a potty break. As for dancing, everyone usually ties off to each other and boat hops. You can hail a bigger boat in the floatelly and ask permission to board and dance! Damn, I wish we had a little boat!!! Fun fun fun! -

Fri, May 16, 2008 - 7:42 PMIt's not necessary to go by boat if you want a free ride. I usually just hang out in the Embarcadero park right behind the venue, bring a picnic, and have easy access to the park bathrooms. Plenty of good acts there this summer. -
